ADVANCED DRIVER ASSISTANCE SYSTEMS (ADAS)
The camera component in ADAS is typically referred to as a “Forward-Facing Camera” or “Front-Facing Camera.” This camera(s) are positioned/mounted on the vehicle’s windshield, usually near the rearview mirror, and is responsible for capturing visual data of the road ahead. It plays a crucial role in various ADAS functions such as:
- Adaptive cruise control
- Lane departure warning
- Traffic sign recognition
- Pedestrian detection, and more…
by providing real-time information to the vehicle’s onboard computer or control system.
SAFER ROADS FOR EVERYONE
- National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)agrees that driver assistance technologies are the right path toward safer roads
- Driver assistance technologies hold the potential to reduce traffic crashes and save thousands of lives each year
- 92.7% of new vehicles in the U.S. have at least one ADAS*
